El desayuno del verano tiene sabor ibérico: prepara esta tosta con Coppa Ibérica Torreón

Summer breakfast tastes like Iberia: prepare this toast with Torreón Iberian Coppa

Something changes when summer arrives.

Mornings, at times, pass a little slower, coffees last a few minutes longer, and any terrace becomes the perfect place for breakfast without watching the clock. It's the time of year when we rediscover the pleasure of enjoying the little things: good freshly toasted bread, quality ingredients, and enough time to savor them.

Because a breakfast or a tapa can also be a small tribute.

And if there's one ingredient capable of transforming a simple toast into a gastronomic experience, it's Iberian ham.

Today, we want to propose a simple, fresh, and nuanced recipe that demonstrates that when the product is extraordinary, there's no need to overcomplicate things.

The secret is choosing good ingredients

A good toast begins long before you turn on the frying pan.

It starts by choosing rustic bread with a crispy crust and a consistent crumb. It continues with a perfectly ripe avocado, sweet cherry tomatoes, and good extra virgin olive oil.

And it ends with the true star: Torreón Iberian Acorn-fed Coppa.

Made from one of the most prized cuts of Iberian pork and slowly cured, Coppa stands out for its fat marbling, juiciness, and an intense yet balanced flavor that pairs perfectly with fresh ingredients.

The result is a toast full of contrasts where the creaminess of the avocado, the freshness of the tomato, the softness of the egg, and the sweet touch of honey further enhance the character of the Iberian ham.

Recipe: toast with rustic bread, tomato, egg, and Iberian Acorn-fed Coppa. Ingredients (2 people)

  • 80 g Torreón Iberian Acorn-fed Coppa
  • 1 slice of rustic bread
  • ½ avocado
  • Cherry tomatoes to taste
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Tender shoots for garnish (optional)

Preparation

1. Prepare the bread

Toast a slice of rustic bread with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil until golden and crispy.

2. Cook the tomatoes

Make a small cross-shaped cut on each cherry tomato, blanch them for a few minutes in boiling water, and immediately transfer them to ice water to peel easily. Then cut them in half.

3. The perfect egg

Boil the egg for five minutes to achieve a firm white and a creamy, runny yolk, capable of adding all its richness to the recipe.

4. Assemble the toast

Place the sliced avocado on the toasted bread.

Add the slices of Torreón Iberian Acorn-fed Coppa, distributing them carefully to maintain their volume.

Add the cherry tomatoes, sprinkle the sesame seeds, and finish by placing the egg.

Finally, add a drizzle of honey and some fresh sprouts to provide color and a vegetal touch.

Much more than breakfast

Although this recipe was created with a special breakfast or summer brunch in mind, it's also a fantastic option for a light lunch or a casual shared dinner.

Because the best recipes are not always the most elaborate. Sometimes, excellent ingredients, good conversation, and enough time to enjoy them are all that's needed.

And that's precisely what we aim for at Torreón: that each product is the beginning of a moment to remember.
